Roberta was my pen-pal way back in the 1960s-70s and when I went to the USA with a friend I stayed with Roberta and John and they were so VERY VERY kind to us. What an amazing couple. Unfortunately I lost touch with Roberta but have tried to find out where she is as I was so shocked to hear of John's passing. I hope that you will someday see this note Roberta, I think about you (both) often here in London xxx With love and sincere condolences Barbara Attwood

John, I never got to know you, but you were a fantastic drummer and a beautiful man. I'll always have memories of how exited i'd be when I'd see you on TV. Thanks for the music.

Learning about this three years later - it is an incredible shock to hear of John's passing. He was a wonderful friend during his real estate career years in Pasadena and I am blessed to have experienced his kindness, generosity, humor, and his friendship. Although very late in coming, my condolences to his entire family.

The first time I saw John was at the San Jose Civic when he was with the Beau Brummels. They had been signed to Autumn Records out of San Fran, and my group, the Tikis, had auditioned for the label hoping to get signed along with so many other local bands. Soon, we did get signed and, after Autumn sold their roster of artists to Warners, John became our drummer and we took on a new name, Harpers Bizarre. While I could type many pages about John (he and I often roomed together on the road), I'll just say that he was a classy guy and a wonderful friend.

My sincere condolences to the Petersen family. John was very important to my son, Bobby, who dearly loved his Uncle John (and Aunt 'Berta'), and has such fond memories of their times together with his Dad. I will always be grateful for that.

I never had the pleasure of meeting John Petersen in person. But as the publisher of a music magazine, I had the opportunity to interview two of his colleagues from the Beau Brummels. I cannot say enough good about John's work with the Beau Brummels and even more so with Harpers Bizarre. I've always regarded their "Anything Goes" album as one of the best LPs of the 20th century and remain a big admirer of his work. By all accounts, John was a first class gentleman and the world of music is a much sadder place without him. We have a tribute to John posted in the news column on our web site. My deepest condolences to Roberta and his family. Our prayers are with you.

John, we never met, but you were a talented musician in the bands that you played with and an excellent drummer. Thank you for the years of good music. You will be missed. Although they were several years ahead of me, I was proud that I went to the same grammar school that Sal and Ron did and grew up in North Beach. The Beau Brummels were our local heroes. My condolences go out to your family.

Roberta,
I was just wondering where you are. I searched via Google and came across the news. I've just gone through something similar and so I can truly sympathize. My heart goes out to you at this time.

Your family does not know me, however I am posting this in behalf of former Harpers member, Richard (Dicky) Yount, of Santa Cruz, CA. I am sure that by now Dicky has read of the passing of your brother, John. I will print out his obituary online and save it for the next time I see him. I am truly sorry to hear of your loss and will think good thoughts for the whole family. Take care all.
Sincerly,
Gregory Wulff

John, there was always a special bond between us. I will miss you so much - our mutual love of food and cooking, even your helping me stir the gravy and our mutual love of music. You were "there" for me so many times when I needed a shoulder. You will always be in my heart.
Your loving sister, Susan

I got to know you. I was blessed. My one great regret is that circumstances always got in the way of us finally touring together. I'll always treasure the times you sat in with us. You were great.........John "Jackson" Hart
