Donald Edward Rothschild

Donald Edward Rothschild A 5th generation San Franciscan, died December 7, 2009 (born 12/13/1950). Don was the great grandson of August Helbing, a founder of Eureka Benevolent Society (Jewish Family and Childrens Services). The youngest son of August and Kathryn Rothschild, Don is survived by his daughter, Amber Petree, brothers Tony (Laura Goldin) and John, his nieces and nephews, Hilary, Lizzy, Alexa, David and Andy, and many friends. A UC Berkeley graduate, Don was an avid sports fan, with a particular love of Cal football and basketball and his San Francisco Giants. Don enjoyed solving puzzles, playing backgammon and scrabble competitions. A keen piano player, Don was a serious music afficionado of diverse knowledge and eclectic tastes. Don derived great satisfaction from assisting people. He used his extensive building skills both professionally and in service to the community. Don is remembered by all who knew and loved him for his keen wit and great sense of humor. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2009.
