Steven Peter Morena Steven (Manny) Peter Morena (Marie) entered rest peacefully May 13, at home at the age of 89, 10 days short of his 90th birthday. First U.S. born son of Italian parents Pietro and Rosa Morena, and brother to Cono (Phyllis), Joseph (Lee), James (Norma), Lorraine (William) and Robert (Jean). Navy Veteran of WWII, he served on the destroyer McCalla. He earned his teaching credential from SF State, and his Masters and Doctorate in Education from Stanford. His career included, counseling and teaching science in the SF Unified School District, Counselor of Laney College, President of Laney College, Assistant Chancellor to the Community College District in SF, Superintendent of SF schools from 1972-75. He moved to Europe, taught and became Director of Programs for USC. Upon retiring he lived in Santa Rosa, Tennesee and Millbrae, CA. He is survived by his wife Barbara, son Michael (Laura), sister Lorraine Owen (Bill), brother Robert (Jean), nieces and nephews. Friends may visit between 6-8pm, Monday, May 16th, Garden Chapel, 885 El Camino Real, So. S.F. where a vigil service will be held at 7pm. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 17th at St. Robert Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Rd, San Bruno. Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
