ARTHUR RUD Obituary

Arthur Clarence Rud
Arthur Clarence Rud "Art" was born on February 25, 1931, in San Francisco, CA and passed peacefully at his home in Santa Rosa, November 23, 2012, surrounded by his loving family both human and canine. Art is survived by his children Mark Rud and Marchele Bergamaschi; his grandchildren Anthony and Ash-Lee Rud, Chad, Marcus and Paige Bergamaschi; and his sweetheart Dolores Dimas, their dogs George and Jojo; Dolores' daughters Elizebeth, Suzanna and Judy; and grandchildren Jason Yanez, and Christopher, Nicholas and Jennifer Ortiz. Art has been a loving father-in-law to Rick Bergamaschi and KanDee Rud and loving cousin to Kevin, Patti, Sean and Shannon Maloney; Cathy Maloney, Brian Maloney, Theresa Hughes and many nieces nephews.
Art grew up in Daly City, attended Jefferson High School and graduated with an Associates Degree at CSM. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was assigned as a medic in the field. After his return from Korea he took a position as a bank teller at Anglo Bank in San Francisco where he met and married his first love, June Armanino, whom he now joins in Heaven.
Art began as an apprentice plumber with W.L. Hickey and Sons and soon opened his own plumbing business, A. Rud and Son in 1960 under UA Local 38. Art sat on the Board of Trustees with UA Local 38 for over 30 years. As soon as his and June's son and daughter were old enough, they too worked with Art at A. Rud and Son. Art was a very successful businessman but as with most business there are highs and lows. As fate would have it, during a particularly stressful time for the business Art was the winner of a $25,000 Keno jackpot in Reno, Nevada.
Art enjoyed 49er football as far back as the late 50's attending Kezar Stadium with his brothers-in-law. In the 60's his nephews and nieces joined in, and later at Candlestick Park his son and daughter attended the games with him as well.
He met his sweetheart of 20 years, Dolores, at Candlestick Park while working on the Park's renovation. After retirement, Art and his Sweetie Dolores moved to Santa Rosa. They enjoyed many travels by train to Canada and the upper United States.
While home, Art spent many hours a day in his perfectly manicured garden with his dogs and Dolores. He loved his family joining he and Dolores for Dolores' home cooking, a good boxed wine and sharing stories with his children and grandchildren.
There really was nothing more important to Art than the time he spent with his family. Whether he was at home in Santa Rosa, on vacation at his timeshare in Disneyland, or his vacation home in Lake Tahoe, Art made sure his family came first. Art was quite a character and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services for Art will be held at Duggan's Serra Mortuary in Daly City on Friday, November 30, 2012, beginning with a viewing at Noon followed by a service at 1:30 p.m. Art will then be laid to rest at the Italian Cemetery in Colma. Donations to the Hanna Boys Center may be made in lieu of flowers.

Art, you were always a joy to be around. Whether it was at a family function, Disneyland, family dinners or old memories that take me back many years to the Boulder Creek days. Art always had a smile on his face that was so infectious that it made others smile. I will truly miss you Art, but never forget you and the great memories.

Art holds a very special place in my heart. I always enjoyed when he was around at the family gatherings. He always had a smile from ear to ear. He was a charmer - especially if you enjoyed his quick wit and off color jokes as much as I did! I will never forget witnessing the unconditional love this man had for his children and their families. I truly feel blessed to have known Art.

With heartfelt sympathy to Mark, KanDee, Ash-Lee, Anthony Rick, Marchelle, Chad, Marcus, Paige, Sweetie Dolores, George and JoJo.

As Mark and KanDee's niece, I was very lucky to have known Art since I was a little girl. He was an amazing man. I do know that family was the most important thing to him. He will be missed by many. To Uncle Mark, Auntie Kan, Marchele, Rick, Dolores, Ash, Anthony, Chad, Marcus and Paige - lots of love and hugs to all of you.
