Resident of Hillsborough
Surrounded by family and friends, Nick Crisafi died peacefully in his Hillsborough home on October 19, 2013. He was 87. Born in San Francisco, Nick attended Horace Mann Middle School and Commerce High School. A self-starter by nature, he was briefly employed by the accounting firm of Hood and Strong before striking out on his own at twenty-one to form his own practice, Crisafi & Sciabica [now Crisafi, Pryor & Farquhar]. It wasn't long before Nick's trailblazing spirit steered him into real estate, where he discovered and developed his lifelong passion in residential, commercial and industrial property. Gifted with a helpful nature, Nick was also known for his generosity. As a young man he served as treasurer of the Men's Club at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church and was a member of the Elks Club. Later he joined the Peninsula Golf and Country Club and became an enthusiastic member of Kiwanis. Over his twenty-three years of service with Kiwanis Nick served as a board member and treasurer and also spearheaded the San Mateo Club Holiday Shopping Program for Children. In recognition of his exceptional loyalty and devotion, he was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in 1995 and the Outstanding Service Award in 2010. Nick's keen curiosity led him to travel the world with his wife Stella. His adventurous spirit will be celebrated in the family he leaves behind: daughter Roselyn Crisafi Dumesnil, stepdaughter Victoria Powers-Cotchett, stepson Nicholas Powers, grandchildren Magdalyn Powers, Elisa Dumesnil, Peter Dumesnil, Elizabeth and Alexandra Crisafi, Quinn and Camilla Cotchett, and six great-grandchildren [Mia and Bennett Stillman, Jack, Joseph, Trey and Cash Dumesnil]. Nick is also survived by his son-in-law Paul Dumesnil, daughters-in-law Michelle Crisafi and Madeline Crisafi, sister-in-law Patty Crisafi, nieces Dana Walter and Monique Crisafi, brother-in-law Luke Langlois, Joe Cotchett, Alex Stillman, Anna Dumesnil, and Anna Crisafi, the mother of his children. Nick was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Rose Crisafi, his son Anthony Crisafi, his wife of forty years Stella Crisafi, and most recently his brother Dan Crisafi. The family would like to thank Myrna Luna for her faithful years of service to Nick and his wife Stella. Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2013 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame, CA. Interment to follow at Greek Memorial Park, Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nick's honor may be made to Kiwanis Club San Mateo Foundation, 63 Bovet Road #425, San Mateo, CA 94402. Please designate your gift to the K-Mart Shopping for Children Project.

Dear Crisafi Family,
It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Nick. What started many years ago as a business relationship between Nick and I quickly became a warm friendship of over 45 years. Nick was my mentor in business and my advisor in day to day life. It was a privilege to have known him and Stella so well, and my family and I will never forget his thoughtfulness and kindness.
With great personal sorrow, we ask to share your loss and to extend our heartfelt sympathy.

Nick Crisafi was a wonderful human being, father, husband and Kiwanian. We met Nick over 20 years ago when I joined the San Mateo Downtown Kiwanis Club (now the San Mateo Kiwanis Club) where he served as treasurer for many years. Nick was patient, kind and generous. My wife, Suzanne also shares in these sentiments. Our condolences and prayers are with Nick's family.

My name is Gerry Weiss and I am the
President and Secretary of the San Mateo Club. I first met Nick when I
joined Kiwanis in January 2000. I sat next to Nick on numerous occasions at club meetings. He always had a smile on his face.
Nick joined Kiwanis in 1987. He served
as a Board Member and was elected Treasurer in 2005. Nick received numerous service awards in recognition
of outstanding service and devotion to the Greater San Mateo Club. Nick received the Greater San Mateo “Life Time Achievement Award” in November 2012.
Nick spearheaded the San Mateo Club Holiday Shopping Program for children.
This was Nick's favorite service project. Each year, the San Mateo Club purchases clothing for 50 children. Each child receives $100.00 worth of merchandise (tee shrts, shoes, shirts, socks, jackets). The one thing Nick enjoyed most was to see the elation on faces of children when they received their goods.
Nick was a loyal and devoted Kiwanian and good friend. I will miss him dearly.

Nick,
I am forever grateful to you. You have been much more than a Father-in-Law to me, especially since Tony died. You took me under your wing and taught me how to take care of myself emotionally and financially. Working with you these last 7 years, has shown me the "true you"...tough on the outside and a marshmallow on the inside. We had a special relationship built on a a mutual trust and respect. Thank you for your son, the love of my life, and may you spend the rest of eternity in peace.
Love,
Michelle Crisafi

Dear Friends and Family: I just joined the San Mateo Kiwanis three weeks ago. Leland R. Smith, DPM, just shared with me his longstanding friendship with Nick Crisafi in the car with me when I gave Leland a ride to the DCM meeting in San Carlos last Wednesday. I wish I had joined Kiwanis a few years ago so that I would have had the opportunity to meet Nick. I just read his obituary this morning (via Legacy.com) and Nick sounded like a very resourceful, generous, and interesting person, someone whom I would have sincerely enjoyed having as a friend and fellow Kiwanis member. Well, at least I can have the honor of learning about this wonderful, self-made man and an indirect connection to him through Leland Smith.
