Jean Stark

Jean Frances StarkJean Stark passed away on May 24, 2014, surrounded by her children.
Jean was born on February 3, 1929, in San Francisco to the late Henry and Helen Kiernan. Jean, a third-generation San Franciscan, was a City girl through and through. Jean grew up in the Mission District attending both St. Paul's grammar school and high school. After graduation she worked in a San Francisco insurance office. Jean married John Stark on May 5, 1951. They moved out to the sunny Sunset District to raise their family. In the late '60s Jean began a career with Crocker Bank starting out as a secretary. She retired 20 years later as an Assistant Vice President. Jean is survived by her son James Stark and his wife Cathy of San Ramon; daughter Joan Stark Caraska and her husband David of Moraga; daughter Jeanette Stark of San Francisco; and her grandchildren Claire Caraska, David Stark and his wife Lisa, and Dan Stark.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Stark. Jean will be remembered for many things, most notably her fierce independence and her holiday fruitcake.
Visitation for family and friends will begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28th at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City with the Vigil Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 29th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 650 Parker Ave., San Francisco, followed by the Committal at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Old Mission Road, Colma.
