Painter and muralist Manuel Villamor lived in San Francisco from 1960 to 1986 and was active in the Latino arts community. He helped found Galería de la Raza and was one of three artists who painted the iconic mural at Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts. He passed away in Chetumal, Mexico where he had lived for many years, recognized there for his artwork and LGBT+ advocacy. He was a passionate man with a great sense of humor. Friends in Chetumal are compiling a visual catalog of his paintings and murals; to contribute, contact Lisa Lethin of Sunnyvale CA.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
