Michael McGuirk Obituary

Michael Patrick McGuirk Mike was born in San Francisco, CA, on March 22, 1960. He fought a courageous battle against lung cancer and passed away much too soon at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View on March 13, 2007. He worked as a system engineer at Laserscope in San Jose for 17 years. Mike had a passion for motor sports and Lake Tahoe. He also enjoyed scuba diving and traveling. He was a devoted, loving husband to Jennifer; proud Daddy to Kaitlyn, Brendan and Owen; son to Albert and Marcia McGuirk; brother to Connie (Rob) Booth and Dave McGuirk. Mike is also survived and loved by his mother-in-Law, Joan Ravenscroft; sisters and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews and many friends. His sense of humor and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all. To celebrate Mike's life, family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service at Darling Fischer Memorial Chapel, 231 E. Campbell Ave. in Campbell on Sunday March 18 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Assn, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Soc., or a fund for his children at Wells Fargo Bank: routing #121042882, account #5025575993.

Mike was a fun-loving and caring husband, father and brother-in-law. We had a lot of great times driving to Lake Tahoe and Disneyland. He always loved to laugh and have fun. But most of all he loved Jenni, Kaitlyn, Brendan and Owen. He will be greatly missed. I loved him like a brother.

When I think of Mike I remember our single years and flying to see Jenny. The moment I saw you together I knew. Jenny never cared much to settle down with her dreams of traveling and adventures. Mike was the match. He learned to enjoy scuba diving and seeing the world. He was the one. Then the blessed children. All the funny stories and sad ones two. How you two stood united. Mike is a man of character. Until the end his family was his concern. He is a great father and I hope the children always know how he fought to spend every last day with them. A man to inspire to.

My heartfelt sympathy to the McGuirk family. I grew up with them in Millbrae and my sister Shirley and Connie were best friends in Highschool. All my best to you all

I am so sorry for our loss. I am happy to have called Mike a friend and I am glad that he had such a significant impact on all of us that knew him. I know his memory will live on. I know I will always think of him when I listen to Peter Gabriel and Genesis.
