Joan Reeves Obituary

Joan Enid Reeves died peacefully after a short illness on February 7, 2014. Born on June 4, 1922 in Datchet, Buckinghamshire, England to Richard and Dorothy Thomson, she was raised in Chile and moved to Canada as a young woman. There she met and married Charles Reeves, and they moved to the Los Angeles area in 1948, and then to South Pasadena, where they raised five children. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Eric, her beloved husband, and by her sons Michael Reeves and David Reeves. She is survived by her son Charles Eric (Nancy) Reeves and granddaughters Meredith and Hannah, daughter Cynthia Reeves Birney and grandchildren Ben and Rabeka, great-granddaughter Ivy Birney, daughter Nancy Elizabeth Reardon and grandchildren John and Eleanor, along with her dear companion Dick Joslyn, and her dedicated caregiver Benedicta Herrera. The family is planning a memorial gathering next month, and requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her memory to Save the Children (www.savethechildren.org), an organization that she supported generously and enthusiastically during her lifetime.
