ACHOR, Ardys Double

Ardys Double Achor passed away peacefully at Clare Bridge Memory Care Center in Bend, Oregon. Ardys moved to Oregon in 2009 to be closer to her children after residing in Whittier for 56 years. She was born Ardys Ruth Double in Willoughby, Ohio, where she grew up and attended the Andrews School. After graduation Ardys went to work at Thompson Products,
predecessor to TRW. There she met Bill Achor, whom she married in 1946. Bill transferred to the Bell, CA plant in 1953 and the young family relocated to the West Coast. They were divorced in 1976.

Ardys was manager of the Whittier Hospital gift shop and employee credit union and served on the boards of Whittier Area Schools Federal Credit Union and the Credit Union of Southern California. She loved her avocado and orange trees and her dogs, as well as the beaches and arts festivals of Southern California.

Ardys was preceded in death by her oldest son Terry and is survived by three children, Sandra Boley of Sisters, Oregon, Darcy Creason of Crooked River Ranch, Oregon and Tom Achor of Portland, Oregon. She has three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Sep. 14 from 1 to 3 PM at the Whittier Historic Depot, 3333 Greenleaf Ave, Whittier.
