It is with human sadness but Christian joy that we announce the passing of our beloved Cecil "Larry" McMillan.Larry was born to Kathern St John and Cecil McMillan in Los Angeles, CA on October 19, 1932. His parents divorced while he was young and he grew up with his mother until the age of 14, when he moved to South Central LA to live with his Dad, in the shadow the LA Coliseum. At 17 he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War as one of the Navy's first helicopter sonarmen.Using the G.I. Bill he attended East LA City College and then transferred to the University of Southern California, where he graduated cum laude with a BSME in 1959 and a MSME in 1960.From 1960 to 1990 he worked for General Dynamics as an engineer and in human relations, where he retired as a Vice President. In 1956 he married the love of this life, the former Beatrice Carranza, and was immediately accepted into the Carranza clan. With Bea he was blessed with two children, Bill and Laura, their two spouses Louise and Noel, and with six amazing grandchildren. For many years he taught part time at both East Los Angeles City College and Cal Poly Pomona, where he influenced hundreds of student engineers. For over 40 years served with the Walnut Valley Kiwanis Club where he formed life long friendships and wonderful memories.Larry was a great man who lived a great life and left us with many great memories. In his honor we ask that you cheer extra hard for the Trojans. FIGHT ON!"He fought the good fight. He finished the race.
