Pamela J. Scott Obituary
Pamela J. Scott passed away on January 6, 2018 at the age of 87. She was born in Bedfordshire, England and left home at the age of 21 to travel abroad. She was adventurous and fiercely independent, spending the early 1950s exploring post-War Europe and North Africa. During this time, she worked at the British Consulates in Rome and Libya. In 1956 she emigrated to Toronto, Canada and then to the United States where she worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines. On one of her flights she met Ronald Scott, professor of Civil Engineering at Caltech, whom she married in 1959 in Palos Verdes, California. They had three sons, Grant, Craig and Rod, who survive her. She is also survived by her brother and sister, David Wilkinson and Shirley Lammie, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pamela was an avid hiker and tennis player as well as a lover of the mountains and the sea. She was a robust anglophile and loved reading and writing poetry, especially short lyrics and limericks. In her late 80s, she was still routinely thrashing her sons at Scrabble. Many people remarked that even after years in America she never lost her British accent. Pamela would be the first to say that she "had a good innings." She will be sorely missed.
