Susan D. Clark Obituary
Susan Darnold Clark, long-time resident of Pasadena, California, died peacefully on December 6 at the age of 78.

Susan, affectionately known as Susie or Suzie, was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. She graduated from Van Nuys High School. She lived in Westwood and Venice before settling in Pasadena, where she studied design at the Otis College of Art and Design. Her talents in design were put to good use in restoring her 20-year home, a Victorian mansion on N. Grand Avenue. Later, Susie worked at California Technical Institute, where she particularly enjoyed working with students in the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Office.

Susie was dedicated to the arts with a special love of art, literature and architecture, and all things Victorian. She could often be found at a local book signing or visiting the Huntington. With her keen wit, her love of furry creatures and her sly smile, Susie more recently enjoyed socializing closer to home with family, friends and her Oak Knoll Gardens neighbors.

She is survived by her son, Richard Clark; step-daughter, Elizabeth Nightingale and son-in-law, Gerald Nightingale, Jr. of Duxbury, Massachusetts; and step-daughter, Carolyn Clark and daughter-in-law, Mariana Corzo of Albany, California. She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Darnold and Joseph Darnold.

Susie was a devoted grandparent and is survived by her grandchildren Eric Nightingale, 18, Grace Nightingale,12, and Léo Corzo-Clark, 15.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, at Cabot and Sons in Pasadena, California at 11:00AM.

Donations in Susie’s memory may be sent to the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, 361 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena, CA 91105, 626.792.7151, pasadenahumane.org.
