Amos W. Prietzel
Amos W. Prietzel, age 94, of Richfield, formerly of Plymouth, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Vitas Ruth Hospice in West Allis.
He was born in Plymouth on September 4, 1918 son of the late William J. and Cora (Laack) Prietzel. William J. was the long time president of Heritage Insurance.
He attended St. John Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High School, furthering his education at Sheboygan Business College.
On April 30, 1943 he married Agnes Kaufman, the mother of their children, in Plymouth. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1959. He later married Victoria Bjorkland in Milwaukee on June 27, 1964. She preceded him in death in 2006.
Amos farmed on the family homestead until 1960, worked for Bordens, along with owning and operating St. Francis Liquor Store.
He was a former member of Salem Plankroad Church in the town of Sheboygan Falls where he sang in the choir and served as a Deacon.
He is survived by a daughter Diane Prietzel (Nancy Senkbeil) of Green Bay, a son William (Janice) Prietzel of Richfield, two grandchildren Anthony (Natalie) Prietzel of Racine, Jennifer Prietzel of West Allis, and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, and two daughters Judith and Joyce.
Funeral services will be held at 5 PM on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Schneider Funeral Home (123 South Street) Plymouth with the Rev. James Hoppert officiating. Burial will follow in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday at the funeral home from 2 PM until the time of service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Vitas Ruth Hospice for the wonderful care and concern shown to Amos and his family these last days.
