Elmyra (Miesfeld) Quasius, age 97, of Sheboygan, went to her Heavenly Home Wednesday evening, February 20, 2013.

Elmyra was born March 20, 1915 in Sheboygan to Alfred and Elsie (Voigt) Miesfeld. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1933 and continued her education at St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois, graduating in 1936.

On August 27, 1942 Elmyra and Edward C. Quasius were united in marriage at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. After nearly sixty-four years of marriage, Edward preceded her in death on August 5, 2006.

For thirty-four years Elmyra was employed at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1972. She also worked as a private duty nurse for for St. Nicholas Hospital for a number of years. She was one of the first nurses to become an instructor of CPR at Memorial Hospital. For many years she attended yearly Cancer Research Seminars at UW-Madison.

She was a member of the Sheboygan District of Nurses, the Wisconsin State Association of Nurses, the National League of Nurses, and Lakeland College Auxiliary.

Elmyra was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two sons, Dale (Lorena) Quasius of Flushing, Michigan and Larry A. (Kay) Quasius of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Scott Shinehouse, Jennifer (Dr. Steve) Gansen, Edward (Renna) Quasius and Nicole Quasius; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Edward, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Roger Miesfeld and her daughter, Sharry Lyn Shinehouse.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Avenue, Sheboygan, WI. Rev. Timothy J. Mech and Rev. John Berg, Pastors, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in her name for Trinity Lutheran Church or Sheboygan Lutheran High School.

Elmyra's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staffs at Pine Haven Christian Assisted Living and Aurora VNA Hospice for their kindness and support these last few weeks.
