Hans D. Krause, "Grandpa Meow-Meow", age 72, of Sheboygan, died Tuesday morning, April 15, 2014 at St. Nicholas Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born February 5, 1942 in Gillett, WI to Arthur and Elsa (Eggebrecht) Krause. He was a graduate of Gillett High School, Class of 1960. Following graduation he honorably served his nation in the US Navy.

On February 12, 1966 Hans and Lois C. Dieck were united in marriage at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Suring, WI. They lived in Clintonville, WI and Paducah, KY before moving to Sheboygan. Lois preceded Hans in death on November 19, 2010.

For the majority of his career Hans was employed at Eck Industries in Manitowoc as a tool and die maker.

Hans was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also was a great supporter of the NRA and .50 Caliber Association and enjoyed gun-smithing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Hans is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Troy) VanEngen of Sheboygan and Christina (Keith) Brunner of Sullivan, WI; two grandchildren, Heidi (Justin) Ahles and Elias VanEngen both of Sheboygan; great grandsons, Peyton and Owyn Ahles; sisters, Mary (Virgil) Johnson, Naomi Hein, Anna Bourdeau; one brother, Arnold (June) Krause; special friends, Jerry, Butch, and Zane; nieces, nephews, and his beloved cat, Cuddles.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Walter, Lyman, and Lawrence.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels and Crematory. A time of visitation and support will be held from 12 noon until the time of service. Hans will be laid to rest at Maple Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery in Suring, WI where full military rites will be accorded him at a later date.

A memorial fund has been established in his name for the Sheboygan County Humane Society and the Christian radio station WRVM, 102.7 out of Suring, WI.

Hans' family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff members at Sheboygan Progressive Health Care Center, St. Nicholas Hospital, and Dr. Brauer, Dr. Haller, and Dr. Horth for their care and support these last few years.
