Scherer, Michael J.
Michael James Scherer, 59, of Show Low, Arizona passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Veterans Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.
Michael was born in Sheboygan on March 16, 1954 to Frank and Barbara (Esser) Scherer. He attended grade school at both Ss. Cyril and Methodius and Immaculate Conception Parishes. He continued on and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1972. During the summers Michael worked at Mecan River Conservation Camps. Following high school graduation Michael enlisted in the US Marine Corps in March of 1975. After basic training and airborne radio operators school he was stationed at the Marine Tactical Electronics Warfare Squadron at Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Washington. He was honorably discharged after his four year tour of duty. Michael moved to Arizona and settled into a place he loved. His life in the mountains was fulfilled by fishing and hunting. He owned and operated the Mountain Tile Co. of Eager and Pinetop. Michael never left Arizona outside of his annual trips to Sheboygan for family, brats, cheese and trips to Green Bay for his beloved Packers. Michael was a very personable man and was well loved by all those he came in contact with.
Michael is survived by a son, Christian and a daughter, Ashley; his father, Frank Scherer of Sheboygan; a brother, David Scherer of Sheboygan; a sister, Lori Scherer of Cedar Lake; his aunts, June Toennies of Florida, Sharon Menice of Texas and Betty Van Der Puy of Sheboygan and his brother-in-law, James Esser of Sheboygan. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Barbara Jean Esser Scherer, his second mother, Joyce Menice Scherer, uncles Donald Toennies, Don Menice, William Van Der Puy and Earl Petry and his grandparents, Frank and Laura Scherer, Joseph and Jennie Menice and Dr. William and Royalin Esser.
A memorial service for Michael will be held at a later date.

What sad and shocking news of the loss of Mike. Being longtime friends of Mike's we enjoyed when he would stop by when he was in Sheboygan. Our sympathy to all his family.
