Jeanette M. Steiner, age 81, of Chilton, died on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Willowdale Health & Rehab Center in New Holstein. She was born June 27, 1932 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Frank & Agnes (Wagner) Geiser. Jeanette married Leo J. Steiner on June 20, 1950 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.

Jeanette worked for the New Holstein School District as a Reading Teacher's Aide, both in the high school as well as the elementary school. Following her retirement, Jeanette continued to volunteer reading at New Holstein Elementary and the Chilton Catholic School.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Charles Parish where she also belonged to the Christian Women. Jeanette was a Catholic Knights Member, now known as Catholic Financial, and was a Charter Member of the Daughters of Isabella in New Holstein.

Jeanette was very civic minded and served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Calumet County Republican Party and served on the Diocesan School Board as well as the local Catholic School Board. She was a wonderful mom, and wife who was an excellent cook and baker, especially well known for her delicious home made pies. She was extremely proud that a lot of her family picked up on her expertise, and can now bake using her techniques. In her free time, Jeanette looked forward to a game of Sheepshead, Skat & Scrabble, and made quilts which were donated for charitable causes like church picnics.

She will be remembered as a faith filled woman of God with a big heart who always looked for ways to give of her life to serve those who needed it.
