Norbert E. Hintz Jr. Obituary
Norbert E. Hintz Jr., age 78, of Waldo went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee.

He was born in the Town of Sherman on February 19, 1934 son of the late Norbert Sr. and Viola Hintz.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade. He was to graduate from Waldo High School in 1952, because of his father falling ill he stopped attending school to run his father's business, returning to finish high school in 1953.

In 1953, he married Sandra Kappel at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in the Town of Lima. He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in the Town of Lima where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer and an elder. The couple later became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade.

In 1955, he started in the oil business. In 1956, he heard the call of Uncle Sam and served in the United States Army until 1958, serving in Germany. After returning home, he began driving oil truck, was involved in Cascade Sand and Gravel, and in addition to owning and operating Norbert Hintz Jr. Oil Company, he operated trucks for Larson Company, Waldo and Cedar Grove. In 1974, he purchased the Waldo Oil Company.

In the 1950's, he was involved with the Boy Scouts, an active member of the Waldo Fire Department for 31 years, a charter member of the Cascade Lions Club later joining the Waldo Lions Club, bowled at the Cascade bowling alley, was a free bus driver for 4-H including trips to Great America, and Wisconsin Dells, and was on the Waldo Village Board for 35 years, serving as trustee and village president.

One of Norbert's accomplishments he was proud of was helping the Village retain the Memorial Hall.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra of Waldo; four children, Debbie (Jon) Hillmer of Baraboo, WI, Mike (Joan) Hintz of Waldo, Linda (special friend, Ken Yeman) Hernandez of Waldo, and Lisa (Jim) Schumacher of Plymouth; six granddaughters, Amanda and Alyssa Hintz, Ella and Lydia Reed, Grace and Jessica Schumacher; a brother, Roger (Joann) Hintz; a sister, Shirley (Jim) Meeves; and a brother-in-law, David (Jean) Kappel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Hintz; and a sister, Faye Jacoby.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade with the Rev. Richard Biding officiating. Burial will follow in the Waldo Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service.

Norbert was a very kind and generous person donating his time and talents to his family and community.
