Tanner, Jimmy W.

Jimmy W. Tanner, age 66, of Plymouth, WI, passed away Sunday Evening (Jan. 20) at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the past 4 days.

Jimmy was born on December 19, 1946 in Effingham, Illinois, a son of the late Jim and Dorothy Richards Tanner.

He graduated from Livermore High School in Alameda, CA in 1964.

Jimmy served in the United States Air Force from 1964 until 1970 serving in the Vietnam Conflict.

He started working for Hinckle and McCoy, a communications contracting company, which brought him to Plymouth where he was employed for GTE/Verizon for 38 years retiring in 2005.

Jimmy loved golfing, his trips to Florida and to many local casino's along with his camping and fishing trips to Devil's Lake. He enjoyed marching with the veterans in all the different parades and spending time with his many friends at the local pubs.

Survivors include: One Sister: Margo (Sam) West of Camas, Washington; One Niece: Jennifer Leal and her daughter: Lila; Two Nephews: Shane Work and Reese Tanner; His best friend: Bruce Steinke of Florida and Very dear friend: Johanna Kimme of Plymouth.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and One Brother: Michael.

Following Jimmy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of remembrances and stories will be held on Saturday (Feb. 2) starting at 5:00 P.M. at his favorite hangout, City Club, in downtown Plymouth. Please No Flowers, a memorial is being established in Jimmy's name for the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center or the Veterans Memorial in Plymouth.
