David Borgardt, age 83, of Sheboygan, died on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at St. Nicholas Hospital. He was born in Sheboygan on January 26, 1933, the son of the late Henry and Dorothea DeGraf Borgardt.

David attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1952. On September 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Elaine Wierzbach at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country during the cold war from 1955 to 1957.

He was employed as a control room operator at Wisconsin Power and Light-Edgewater Plant, retiring in 1989. David was a current member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sheboygan and he enjoyed playing cards, especially Sheepshead. He also was a member of the Friendly Voices at Sheboygan Senior Community and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia Greater Sheboygan Chapter.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; two children, Steve (Senen) Borgardt and Linda (Lyle) Pierce; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica; his brother, Fred Borgardt, all of Sheboygan; a niece, Sheila Borgardt, of Green Bay and his sister-in-law, Beverly Borgardt, of Sheboygan. His is further survived by other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.

A funeral service for David will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 917 Mead Ave., Sheboygan with Rev. Marcus Powers officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Monday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery.
