Daniel C. Hytry
Town of Rhine - Daniel C. Hytry, 81, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2018 in the arms of his loving bride of 58 years, Elaine (Kieffer) Hytry.
Dan was born in Dancy, Wisconsin on August 3, 1936; son of the late Standley 'George' and Caroline (Daul) Hytry. The third youngest in a family of 13, Dan grew up on a farm among more sisters that you could count on two hands and one brother. After graduating from Marshfield Senior High School, Dan joined the Army and served in the Korean War.
Dan met his bride Elaine, when he was 17 and she was 14. Not too many years later, he proposed to her on Christmas Eve. He married Elaine on September 26, 1959 and they became loving parents to Renee (Chris) Hytry Derrington, Randal (Patti) Hytry, Cheryl (Todd) Weisensel, Denice Hytry, Cynthia Hytry, Michele (Robert) Shilsky. He was also a foster father of 6, including Jeff Schwartzkopf who became part of the family.
Dan was a most adored grandfather to Elizabeth (Eric) Oliver, Travis (Trish) Kelly, Ryan Kelly, Rachele Weisensel, Isabel Hytry, Aron Schilsky, Alex Schilsky and a beloved great grandfather to Rhiann Kelly, Luke Gahagan, Emma Kelly and Gabrielle Oliver.
Dan spent a quarter century at Kohler Company before retiring and delving into his second career in real estate. This was no small feat, as he taught himself how to do it all. This is even more exceptional as his achievements in real estate were recognized when he served two terms as the President of Sheboygan Lakeshore Apartment Association and as President of the Wisconsin Apartment Association for 2 years (1989-1990). After "retiring" Dan spent his days building his: 'Up North' Wisconsin Cabin (for the summers) and wintering in their Florida home. The intention, of course, was to have as many visitors as possible. And there were visitors.
Because, Dan was one of the best. He was a man who both worked and loved hard. Everything he did felt special - whether it was the beautiful home he built for his growing family with his bare hands (and just a book on how to build homes…), his unrequited love for his wife, or how he always treated every single person like they were the most important person in the room. Dan's capacity for love was deep, and his love of family knew no bounds. And his family and friends were lucky to both love him and be loved by him.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday (January 27, 2018) at 12:00 Noon at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls. Father Philip Reifenberg will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the CHURCH on Saturday (Jan. 27) from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Daniel's name for the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls and Habitat for Humanity.

I met Dan was at work. I was just starting. I was very nervous. He was such a sweetheart and told a few jokes and made some funny comments. He did make you feel special. I really enjoyed seeing him at work. He had a twinkle in his eye and you just liked him instantly.
He will be missed.
