Reba R. Gorman

Reba R. Gorman, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Saturday morning, August 26, 2018. Reba loved Carolina basketball, professional tennis, and her IBM Selectric typewriter which she still used.
Reba worked at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce for many years and was a strong supporter of both Charlotte and the Chamber. She also worked a second job at Park Lanes Bowling Alley until she was in her sixties. She retired from the Charlotte Chamber for the final time in 2016.
She was preceded in death by her children, Patricia Gail Gorman and Kenneth Dale Gorman; her parents, B. F. and Hannah Rippy; her brothers and sisters, Robert Rippy, Alma Snellings, and C.B. Rippy – all of Shelby, and a sister Doris Cudd of Dallas, NC. She was also preceded in death by her late former husband Ray H. Gorman.
She is survived by a sister-in-laws, Jessie Barrett of Boca Raton, FL and Francis Smith of Charlotte, NC; nieces Kathy Cudd of Charlotte, Carolyn Lunger of Boca Raton, FL, Annette Justice of Shelby, Tammy Hines of Hickory, NC, Janet Sisk of Shelby, NC, Kay White of Shelby, NC, and Donnis Davis of Shelby, NC, nephews Donald Rippy, Douglass Rippy, and Norris Snellings, all of Shelby, Todd Gorman of Hickory, NC, Neil Gorman of Conover, NC.
Reba was one of the kindest, most generous, and most accepting person with whom God has ever graced us.
A memorial service will be held at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, on Tuesday, September 4 with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm and the memorial beginning at 3:00 pm.
