I am a late comer to You, Louise. As so Ive just learned of Michaels valiant dance with dementia, and his passing; I just finished the Great Reckoning.
But your loving reference to Michael in each of your books led me to believe that he lived in Armand Gamache’s DNA. Thank you for sharing that love with us. I now realize Michael/ Armand have been comforting me through this pandemic, and live on to help us find the best of ourselves.
Thank you both,
Wendie

Dear Louise:
I just met you via "A Great Reckoning," the first Gamache novel I have ever read. Now, having read your acknowledements, I feel as if I have met your husband. If Gamache is even a fraction like your husband, Dr. Whitehead must have been very wonderful. I extend my sincerest sympathy to you.

I am just one of many readers of Louise Penny's Armand Gamach books. It seems obvious that her love for her husband partially sets the tone for the love that makes itself felt in all of her works. In a sense, that love continues to affect and influence us all. Condolences for the loss of one who loved and was loved.

Dearest Louise, please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of Michael. I have so many lovely memories of you and Michael at Malice Domestic and I'll never forget our time together in London. We had such a lovely time and he so enjoyed being the only gentleman accompanying you and the three of us at Fortnam & Mason. I've attached a lovely picture of the two of you that I took outside of Hatchards.
I have you and Michael in my thoughts today.

Dear Louise,
I am so sorry to hear about Michael's passing. We were never personally close but it felt like we were. He was my predecessor as Jack Cole Chair at the Children's and an inspiring figure. He also made me feel welcome after my relocation and helped support some of my students, acting warmly, discretely and always with a big heart. He will be missed. My sincere Condolences.
