Gwendolyn Sanderson Peoples
RUSTON, LA - Gwendolyn Sanderson Peoples, 88, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, with services at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Wayne Evans of Grace United Methodist Church of Ruston. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
Mrs. Peoples was born in Sulligent, Alabama in 1921. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. and Mrs. John A. Sanderson of Winfield, AL; her sisters: Doris Sanderson, Juanita Camp, Winona McNees, and Lanelle Howton; and her husband of 55 years: Morgan D. Peoples. She is survived by her son: Dr. Kenneth Peoples and his partner William Duffy of Tucson, AZ; son: John Peoples and wife Mary Peoples of Shreveport, LA; four grandchildren: Walt Peoples of Shreveport, Kathryn Peoples of Shreveport, LA, Mrs. Mary Evelyn Hargett and her husband Clay Hargett of Houston, TX, and Carolyn Peoples of Dallas, TX; great granddaughter: Morgan Ashley Spradling: and great-grandson: William Hargett; her brother-in-law: Buster Howton of Fayette, AL, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends at Grace Church and throughout the region.
Mrs. Peoples was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 57 years, where she served as secretary for 22 years. She loved to cook, garden, and play bridge and was active in the LA. Tech University Wives Club.
The family suggests that any planned memorials may be made to the Morgan D. Peoples Scholarship Fund at the Louisiana Tech University Foundation.
