John Xavier Durusau
John Xavier Durusau died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 2, 2012. He was the light of his family's life. John was born with Down Syndrome at a time when few people expected him to live and thrive. Thanks to his wonderful parents, Sherman and Clarence Durusau, he grew up in a loving home. His family was among the founding members of The Arc of Caddo Bossier, which opened the door to many of the opportunities that allowed John to live a rich and full life.
John attended Line Avenue School and was first employed at Frost Industries in Shreveport. He moved to Baton Rouge in 1990 and for 22 years he worked at Arc Baton Rouge's Metro Enterprises.
He is survived by brother, Joseph Durusau of San Antonio, Texas, brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Carol Durusau of Covington, Georgia; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Barry Erwin of Baton Rouge; and niece, Elizabeth Durusau of Athens, Georgia.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Rose Neath Funeral Home, Marshall Street, followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Church of the Nativity in Campti. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Arc Caddo Bossier, 351 Jordan Street, Shreveport, LA 71101.

John was truly the most amazing person. I don't even know where to begin in describing his worth to our family. We all loved him so much and how he loved each of us. He made each one feel like we were the very one he was waiting to see. It was a celebration each time he came for a visit, it was truly all about family. He kept us, who didn't see each other often, connected because though he asked how so and so was doing he always knew more than we did. Mary I want to thank you for what you did to make sure that John got to see all the people he loved and that loved him so much. We will miss him but our great loss is certainly heavens gain. Cousin John loved reunions and just magine the wonderful reunion that has gone on in Heaven over the past few days. Wow!

The South Louisiana Dumas (and Callais) family is saddened by the loss of our much reveered cousin. But be assured he is in Heaven already keeping notebooks with memories of everyone that is there with him. He's turned on that brighter light up there, and will be eternally loved.
