John Xavier Durusau

John Xavier Durusau died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 2, 2012. He was the light of his family's life. John was born with Down Syndrome at a time when few people expected him to live and thrive. Thanks to his wonderful parents, Sherman and Clarence Durusau, he grew up in a loving home. His family was among the founding members of The Arc of Caddo Bossier, which opened the door to many of the opportunities that allowed John to live a rich and full life.

John attended Line Avenue School and was first employed at Frost Industries in Shreveport. He moved to Baton Rouge in 1990 and for 22 years he worked at Arc Baton Rouge's Metro Enterprises.

He is survived by brother, Joseph Durusau of San Antonio, Texas, brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Carol Durusau of Covington, Georgia; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Barry Erwin of Baton Rouge; and niece, Elizabeth Durusau of Athens, Georgia.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Rose Neath Funeral Home, Marshall Street, followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Church of the Nativity in Campti. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Arc Caddo Bossier, 351 Jordan Street, Shreveport, LA 71101.
