Burniece Dillard

Jefferson - Beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, Mrs. Jack (Burniece) Dillard passed into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, August 30, 2018 in Jefferson, Texas surrounded by her family. Burniece was born on August 21, 1933 in Marietta, Oklahoma to Wesley Davis and Maude Rice Freeman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Maude Freeman and six brothers, J. D. Freeman, Dr. W. D. Freeman, George Freeman, Russell Freeman, Marvin Freeman and Samuel Freeman; and her sister, Rosa Mae Jackson. On February 5, 1955, Burniece married the love of her life and together they celebrated 63 beautiful years. She is survived by her husband, Jack Bennett Dillard, Sr.; their children, Jack Bennett Dillard, Jr. and his wife, Dottie, Jerry Brent Dillard and his wife, Dawn, James Barry Dillard and his wife, Nancy and Janet Burniece Greer and her husband, Gregg. Burniece is also survived by her grandchildren, Jamie Parks and her husband, Justin, Julie Watkins and her husband, Jeff, Deke Dillard and his wife, Andrea, Fancy Pettit and her husband, Steven, Ryker Dillard, Jena Whitsett and her husband, Tyler, Jake Greer, Jade Greer; her great-grandchildren, Case Parks, Coulter Parks, Taylor Watkins, Madison Watkins, Sloane Dillard, Judah Dillard, Murphy Dillard, Asher Pettit, Teegan Pettit and Darci Jo Whitsett; her sister, Ruth Hughes; her cousins, Willis and Norene Choate; many other family members and friends who knew and loved her. Burniece loved her Lord and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Waskom for many years where she taught Sunday School. Burniece graduated from Meadowbrook High School near Marietta, Oklahoma where she was a star basketball player. She and Jack owned and operated Double D Auction Service where they were deeply involved in many community events and auctions. She loved to work in her yard and enjoyed her flower gardens, but her true passion was her Lord and her family. Visitation for Burniece will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:30am at First Baptist Church in Waskom with Dr. Ivy Shelton officiating. Pallbearers will be Deke Dillard, Ryker Dillard, Jake Greer, Justin Parks, Jeff Watkins, Tyler Whitsett and Steven Pettit. Interment will follow at Yates Cemetery, Scottsville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to First Baptist Go Fund, 185 Colquitt Street, Waskom, Texas 75692. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Cypress Place Assisted Living and Marshall HomeCare and Hospice for the wonderful love and care given to Burniece during her illness.
