Cleat F. Temple, Jr.

Shreveport, LA - A Memorial Service honoring the life of Cleat F. Temple, Jr. will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA, with Pete King officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the funeral home.

Cleat was born November 30, 1952 in Monroe, LA to Cleat Frayon Temple, Sr. and Cynthia Peoples Temple and passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. He was married to Rita Drake Temple. Between them they had seven children, Christopher Temple, Dustin Temple and his daughter Amy; Jeremy Temple and Shelby Temple, Jeremy Houston and wife Traci and their son Tommy; Russell Houston and Dustin Houston. He also had two step-children from a previous marriage, Michael Stiles, Angela Stiles and her son Dillon Wells; aunts, Helen Lee and husband Ray, Georgie Bankston and Joyce Peoples; and numerous cousins.

Cleat served in the United States Navy as an airplane mechanic. After proudly serving his country and receiving an honorable discharge, he worked numerous jobs until he found his calling as an officer with the Shreveport Police Department. He proudly served for 33 years retiring with the rank of Captain in June 2018. Cleat loved God, his family and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jeremy Temple.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be retired and active members of the Shreveport Police Department.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the medical staff and professionals at Willis-Knighton North, Willis-Knighton Cancer Center and to St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion.
