Clyde G. Gorum

Shreveport - Mr. Clyde G. Gorum, 96, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at a local hospital after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at Osborn Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in the Chapel of Osborn. Officiating will be Rev. Mimi McDowell of Noel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave.

Mr. Gorum was a native of Covington County, Alabama and a resident of Shreveport for 67 years. He was a member of Noel United Methodist Church, President of the Louisiana Nurseryman's Association, Veteran of WWII-29th Infantry from Omaha Beach to Berlin and numerous Veteran organizations. He was awarded the highest honor from France, The French Legion of Honor Medal, for his Military service in WWII. He also received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among others. Mr. Gorum was a prominent Shreveport nursery owner who beautified many area landscapes and had countless loyal customers. In addition, he mentored numerous young people in various endeavors. All of Mr. Gorum and his wife, Mary's, efforts were for their family.

Mr. Gorum was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary G. Gorum; daughter, Virginia Born and husband, Hank; granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth "Lisa" Giblin; three great grandchildren, Zachary Ragan, Cam Giblin and Cai Giblin; niece, Nan Britton and family; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Cam Giblin, Cai Giblin, Zachary Ragan, Glenn Beam, Scott Holder and Wayne McPherson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cody White and Dr. Seborn Woods.

The family requests that memorials be made to Noel United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Seborn Woods for his many years of friendship and care.
