Donald A. Hyatt, 74, passed away on March 16, 2013, at Canon Hospice in Metairie, Louisiana, after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 7, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Donald L. and Elizabeth "Betty" Adams Hyatt. Donald A. Hyatt grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1956.

Donald married Sally Mary Williams in 1960 in Dallas, Texas. They were happily married for 33 years. He attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma, where he received a BS in Industrial Management Engineering in 1961. Donald was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduation he accepted a commission in the United States Air Force and served for three years.

Upon his discharge from the Air Force Donald began work for Western Electric/AT&T at the Shreveport Works as a planning engineer, where he worked for twenty-one years. While employed at Western Electric he was awarded an MBA from LSU in 1972. He left Western Electric/AT&T to further continue his education.

Both Donald and his wife, Sally, attended and graduated from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, receiving their Juris Doctorate degrees in 1989. After passing the bar Donald practiced law in partnership with Sally in New Orleans until her untimely death in 1993. He then returned to Shreveport and served as an Assistant District Attorney in Caddo Parish for several years until he retired.

He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique firearms, boating, fishing, and studying military history.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife Sally and an infant son. Donald is survived by his three sons, Marshall A. Hyatt of Marshall, TX, Donald L. Hyatt, II of Mandeville, LA, John D. Hyatt, M.D. of Charleston, SC; his sister Elizabeth James of Stillwater, Oklahoma; his four grandchildren, Matthew Hayes, Katarina E. Hyatt, Donald L. Hyatt, III, and Michael A. Hyatt; and his nieces and nephew and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held on April 13, 2013 at 11 o'clock a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Marshall, Texas.
