Donald Ray "Smokey" Johnson

Shreveport, LA - Donald Ray "Smokey" Johnson, 91, LA joyously entered heaven's gates on Monday, August, 6, 2018. Born November 13, 1926 in Harrisburg, IL, He enjoyed a long blessed life of blessing others. He was retired from National Linen Services as manager. He was a member of Life Church Shreveport where he served as treasurer for many years. Don was best known for his integrity, wisdom, humor, compassion, selflessness, commitment to God and family … and his BBQ! He had a gift for seeing the good in people that others may not even notice. Friends and family were often captivated as he shared about life growing up, experiences as a Merchant Marine, and raising his family. A true role model, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, who left a huge impression upon the hearts and lives of all who knew him.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Rosco and Rachel Johnson; four siblings; daughters, Sharon Hernandez of Shreveport and Donna LaBiche of Lafayette, LA; and granddaughter, Kiersten Stegall of Kilgore, TX. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Bee Johnson; son-in-law and caretaker, Lee Hernandez of Shreveport; son-in-law Harry LaBiche of Lafayette, LA; granddaughters, Courtney James (Donovan) of Gloster, LA, Tanya Stanley (Michael) of Kilgore, TX, and Stefani Polak (Brian); great-grandchildren, Brittany (Ranse), Joshua, Nathan, Corbin, Caedon, Caelob, Cohen, and Pamela; and great-great-grandson, Carter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Rev. Gary Cavalier, Rev. Corbett Berthelot, and Rev. Scott Homes officiating.
