Emily Martha Stewart Walker

Shreveport, LA - Emily Martha Stewart Walker, 76, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away November 30, 2018, at Willis-Knighton North Medical Center after a short illness.

Born February 23, 1942, in Shreveport, Martha graduated from Fair Park High School in 1960 and Louisiana Tech University in 1964. She earned additional graduate hours in education at LSU in Shreveport.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Osborn Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Carl E. Rhodes officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Osborn's.

Prior to her retirement in 2004, she was employed by the Louisiana State Hospital in Jackson Parish as a case worker, the Caddo Parish school system as a middle school teacher and the Shreveport Mental Health Center of Northwest Louisiana as a case worker and counselor.

Martha was active in numerous organizations, including the Shreveport Opera Guild, Little Theatre Guild, and Camellia Club. Her interests also included genealogy, gardening, antiquing, cooking, music, bridge and reading. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris Hargrove and Gattis Elbert Stewart of Shreveport; and her grandparents, Martha McBride and William Elbert Stewart and Emily Shows and Marshall Hardy Hargrove, all of Jackson Parish, Louisiana.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Glenn Edgar Walker of Shreveport, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn Madison Walker and Kristen Batchelor Walker of Oxford, Mississippi; brother and sister-in-law, Marshall Gattis Stewart and Lynn Beard Stewart of Shreveport; grandchildren, Glenn Hayden Walker and Meredith Virginia Walker, both of Oxford, Mississippi; brothers-in-law, John Gibbs Walker of Prescott, Arizona, and James Henry Walker of Phoenix, Arizona; nephew and niece James Marshall Stewart and Meredith Lynn Stewart, both of Shreveport.
