Huey M. Vinson, Sr.

LAKE CHARLES - Huey M. Vinson Sr., Paw-Paw, 84, was called home on December 25, 2012 to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family. He was born on November 21, 1928 to Rufus and Mary Vinson in Boyce, LA. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed people, and never met a stranger. He lived his life for his family and was a member of Bellview Baptist Church.

Huey served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Coucal. He worked for Shell Oil Company. He was in partnership with his brothers and nephew in Odell Vinson Oilfield Contractors and Big Moose Oilfield Truck Service. He and his son were co-owners of Megatruck Incorporated.

Survivors include his son, Huey Jr. and wife, Diane of Westlake; daughters, Pamela Parker and husband, John of Shreveport, Kaye Brown of Lake Charles, Cynthia Parker of Shreveport; and Vicki Bass and husband, Mark of Shreveport; brother, Herman W. Vinson and wife, Grace of Lake Charles; 3 sisters-in-law; 15 grandchildren, Paul, Brandi, Kelli, Huey III, Christopher, Mikie, Shannon, Misty, Dustin, John Robert, Kristin, Ashley-Anne, Jarred, Katie, and Justin; 24 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lena Mae Broussard Vinson, his parents, Rufus and Mary Vinson, 5 brothers and 3 sisters, and son-in-law, Tommy Brown.

His funeral will be at 11am, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Joseph Vinson will officiate. Visitation will begin Friday 5pm-8pm and resume Saturday 8am until service time. Burial will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens. His grandsons will serve as his pallbearers and his granddaughters as his honorary pallbearers. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at
