SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Joyce A. Berry, 85, of Shreveport, LA, will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Marthaville Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Brown and Rev. Bengie Colvin officiating. Burial will follow in the Marthaville Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday, August 23, 2013, at 5:00 PM at Marthaville Baptist Church.

Joyce A. Berry was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1928 in Marthaville, LA and he passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Grace Home in Shreveport, LA.

Joyce A. Berry has quite a history at the age of 85. He retired from United States Air Force after 21 years then worked for Caddo Parish School Board for 28 1/2 years. His marriage to Dixie would have been 60 years on September 18th, 2013. Joyce led an active life that included Masonic work for 61 years where he conducted numerous Masonic funerals and his involvement with the dyslexia program. He was a dedicated Shriner in the Greeters unit, and the Shrine Circus. He handmade a wooden cedar chest that was raffled off to raise money for Children's Christmas toys at the Shriner's hospital. Joyce Berry loved to help others especially children and widows.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lilly Reeves Berry; grandson, Bradley Berry; brothers and sisters, Joel Berry, James Berry, Jerrold Berry, Jesse Berry, Jewel David Berry, Jasper Berry, Johnny Ray Berry and Julee Cline.

He is survived by wife Dixie Berry of Shreveport, LA; son, Robert Berry and wife Deana of Keithville, LA; daughter, Pamela Swanner of Bossier City, LA; brothers, Jack Berry of Bossier City, LA, Joe Berry of Twin Falls, ID and Jerry Berry of Winnfield, LA; grandchildren, Amanda Swanner, Adam Swanner, Rebecca Berry and Jeffrey Berry; great grandchildren, Mindy Swanner and Mason Owens; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers: John Berry, Kevin Berry, Keith Birdwell, Albert Jenkins, Jack Jenkins, and John Farmer.
