SHREVEPORT, LA - Mark Sherwood Foster passed away peacefully at home on Friday August 21, 2015. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 9:00 until 9:45 a.m., followed at 10:00 a.m. by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church officiated by Pastor Rev. John Korlaske.

Mark was born in Chicago, IL on September 30, 1932 to Bessie Eames and Charles J. Foster. He graduated from The University of Illinois at Urbana where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the US Army from 1955-1959. Post Army, he started his career with Western Electric in Cicero, IL. During this time he also met and married Irene Beth Keepper.

He was transferred with his family to Western Electric Headquarters in NYC, NY in 1962. Shortly after, in 1965, he was transferred to Shreveport, LA and began his management career with Western Electric/AT&T and retired from the company in 1985. He then bought and ran a small print shop with the name of M-Printing which he sold in 2001.

Mark was devoted to and loved by his family. While living in Louisiana he became an avid fisherman and passed this down to his two sons. He was active with the Telephone Pioneers of Western Electric, Kiwanis, Shreveport National Exchange Board, and APICS.

He is survived by his wife Beth Foster of 56 years, daughter Karen Foster Anthony with her husband Martin, sons Charles Evans Foster with his wife Shannon, and Mark Andrew Foster, grandchildren John Martin Anthony with his wife Caroline, Ryan Anthony, Evans, Kimberly, and Joseph Foster and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Honorary pallbearers are Martin Anthony, Gary Lightfoot, Paul Holman, Bob Martina, Jack Scott, and, Don Whittington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Volunteers of America, United Way of NW LA or Shreveport National Exchange Club.
