- - At 16, Otis Etier traveled to Oregon to battle fires as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. After his stint of being a smoke jumper, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp on Aug. 06, 1941 at the age of 18. He served proudly as a Radio Operator for multiple tours during World War II; courageously earning a WWII Victory Medal.

After the war, Otis went on to achieve many things in life. He was an instructor of ESL, teaching new arrivals English. He was a thriving businessman with accomplishments such as being on the Board of Directors for the ArkLaTex Food Bank and starting the first chapter of AARP for Caddo Parish, later becoming Assistant State Director. He even became a successful real estate investor during his retirement.

Otis was also a World traveler. He had many stories of his adventures all over America, Europe, and Mexico.

Regardless of all his amazing experiences, Otis would tell you his greatest feat would be getting to enjoy the journey with his true love. After the war, he met Margaret and it was love at first sight. They were married after a very short courtship and enjoyed 73 years of unforgettable memories and priceless moments.

Otis Etier was a decorated veteran, a loving Husband and Father, a skillful entrepreneur, a cultured traveler, and a teacher of Life.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Etier. His four children: Gloria McGee (Zeno deceased), Patricia Hobbs, Kat Causey (Ed), Joe Etier [deceased] (Evelyn deceased), And a bountiful amount of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will held at Northwest Veterans Cemetery in Keithville on Thursday December 06, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
