Robert "Bobby" G. Gilbert

Shreveport - Robert ""Bobby"" G. Gilbert, August 3, 1937 – April 24, 2020, was born and raised in Vivian, Louisiana. He moved to Shreveport in 1955, where he began his banking career at Commercial National Bank. He served for 31 years before retiring as Senior Vice President of Commercial Loans. Mr. Gilbert then moved to Sabine State Bank and served as the Senior Vice President over Mortgage Loans.
One of his greatest joys was reading his Bible, which he had completed 74 times. He was a longtime and faithful member of his church, the Pentecostals of Bossier City, and rarely missed a service. Bobby was also a very talented musician and he loved playing the guitar. However, he was always the happiest surrounded by his family.
Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by this parents, Hugh Marcus Gilbert and Mozelle Franklin Hillard Gilbert; and brother, Ben Hugh Gilbert. He cherished his wife, Billie of 62 years; and his four daughters, Cynde Kent and husband, Steve, Sandie Gilbert, Karen Gilbert and Marlon Parker, and Charlotte Gilbert; granddaughter, Krystal Armour and husband, David; three great grands, Andrew Scruggs, and Dakota and Lauren Armour; sister, Ruth Forbes; and brother, Jerry Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Missionary Department of the Pentecostals of Bossier City at 2833 Viking Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Rose-Neath Bossier Funeral Home. Graveside services will be private.

Bobby, I think about you often. As a child, you came to church dressed the same way you dressed as an adult: every hair in place, clothes neatly pressed, tie and belt in place. A young gentleman. You were blessed to be raised by two wonderful, God fearing parents. As a young adult you married, and the two of you raised three daughters. May God be with Billie Faye and your daughters each minute of each day. Know that you are loved!

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Gilbert's passing. My dad, Bill Gleason was very fond of him and enjoyed working with him at CNB all the years they worked together. I am so glad I got to see you both at my dad's funeral.

My beloved friend and cousin has left his life on earth for his eternal life in heaven.
Bobby was always a quiet, gentle person. I remember him as a child, a teen and as an adult. Always the same. He honored the memory of his father, grandfather and his great-grandfather as a Gilbert. All were Gentlemen who let their Christian light shine. Billie Faye and family, may the power of the Holy Spirit surround you during this time. With all of my love and God's peace.

I am saddened to hear of Mr Gilbert's passing. I worked with him and Charlotte at First Federal so many years ago. He was such a quiet spoken man and was always so friendly. Prayers for peace for the family.
