Shreveport, LA - Roy Gene Morris was born on September 29, 1943 in Marshall, TX. He died peacefully at his home on August 7, 2018 with his family and friends by his side after his long battle with cancer. The visitation will be, Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Rose- Neath Funeral Home Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. A service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018. Officiating will be Father Joe Martina. Interment will follow at Blanchard Memorial Gardens.

Roy graduated from Fair Park High School in 1961. He was a lifelong resident of Blanchard, LA. He retired from the Boilermaker Local 69 and City of Shreveport where he was a maintenance supervisor. Roy was also member of Knights of Columbus.

Roy is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Frances Kelly Morris; father, Ollie Morris, Jr.; mother, Everlena Morris; father-in-law, Walter Kelly; mother-in-law, Ann Busby Graham; brother, Glen Dale Morris; sister Anita Taylor and Myrna Wisdom He is survived by sons, Scott Morris and Keith Morris; daughter, Elizabeth Morris Shaffer and husband, Bubba. Grandchildren Dalton, Cole, Peyton Morris, and Chase Morris, Brianne McGinty, Jeremy and Haley Shaffer. Brother-in-laws, Walter "Sonny" Kelly and wife, Patti; Danny Kelly. Sister-in-laws, JoAnn Witkowski and husband, Ron, Sylvia Guyton and husband, John and Patti Vandiver and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Brenda Adams for her love, friendship, care and compassion she has given our father, and to all the nurses of Amedisys Hospice. But especially Kathy Rushford which made his days much brighter. He always looked forward to his visits with her.

Honoring him as pallbearers are his nephews, Michael Guyton, Ryan Guyton, Patrick Kelly, Beau Witkowski, Jim Kelly and Randy Kelly.
