Mary Sue Alexander

Mary Sue Alexander, 86, of Vivian, LA passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at North Caddo Medical Center in Vivian, LA. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Pine Street Church of Christ in Vivian, LA. Officiating will be her grandson Bro. Jay Alexander III, assisted by her brother-in-law, Bro. Dale Alexander. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Vivian. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday the 21st from 6 pm until 8 pm at the church.

Mary Sue was born April 25, 1927 in Vivian, LA to F. M. "Frank" and Edith Shores Hale; she was a lifelong resident of Vivian. She was a nurse, delivering many babies of the area, and later a loving caregiver to all of her family and friends. Some of her favorite things were fishing, cooking, and supporting her husband and children at Bluegrass festivals. Her greatest loves were God, and her family. She was beloved by all as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, J. W. Alexander, Sr., her son J. W. "James" Alexander, Jr., her parents Frank and Edith Hale, her brothers, Son Hale, F. M. Hale, Joe Hale, and John Hale, and her sisters, Louann Hale, Merritt Robertson, and Irene Hobbs.

She is survived by her 5 children, Ramona Evans and husband Rick of Vivian, LA, Tim Alexander and wife Lynette of Vivian, Beth Dement and husband Walter of Shreveport, LA, Rod Alexander of Vivian, and Angie Chriss and husband David of Vivian, her step-daughter Ruth Perry of Atlanta, TX, 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers are Josh Alexander, Jacob Alexander, Terry Pittman, David Chriss, Blade Chriss, Conor Tarno, Cole Copeland and Bryson Bourne. Honorary pallbearers are Pat Allen, Alton Allen, and Dr. Stephen Taylor.
