Oil City - Graveside services for Margaret Pace Weaver Bateman, 90, will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Oil City on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Chad Mills of Airline Baptist Church of Bossier City, LA. The family will receive friends for a visitation at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA, on Thursday, May 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Margaret was born in Potters Point, TX, to John Henry "Jack" Pace, Jr. and Susie Player Pace on November 29, 1923, and passed away on May 13, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Oil City and a 1940 graduate of Oil City High School. She retired in 1988 from Southwestern Electric Power Company as office clerk at Lieberman Power Plant. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oil City and a former Justice of the Peace having served Ward 2 of Caddo Parish for many years. In 2011, she was honored as Woman of the Year during the annual Oil City Gusher Days Festival. She held a deep affection for Caddo Lake and always enjoyed sharing her beloved camp with family and friends. Most especially, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 40 years, Bruce H. Weaver, her second husband of 15 years, F. H. "Bill" Bateman, and her sister, Billie Jean Pace Nix. She is survived by her sons, John T. Weaver and companion Linda Swan of Oil City, Bruce H. Weaver, Jr. and wife Candy of Shreveport, LA, and Patrick D. Weaver and wife Chris of Lafayette, LA, stepdaughter, Carol Bateman Carter of Richmond, KY, and stepson, Al Bateman of Naples, FL; six grandchildren, Tracy Weaver Ward, Laurie Weaver Bigelow, John Teakus Weaver, Jennifer Weaver Frith, Bruce H. "Trey" Weaver, III and Kelli Weaver Chachere; 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Bertha Buffin for the compassionate care and support she provided Mom during her illness. Special appreciation is also extended to Dr. Dan Moller, Dr. Robert Hernandez, Life Path Hospice and the staff at Heritage Manor Stratmore where she had resided the past three months.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be her grandsons Teke Weaver and Trey Weaver, her great-grandson, Nicholas Weaver, and grandsons-in-law, Brian Ward, Barry Bigelow, Greg Frith and John Michael Chachere.

As a tribute to Margaret's civic efforts in helping to establish and develop Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, it is suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Lakeview Pavilion Garden Fund, P. O. Box 7, Oil City, LA 71061.
