Lynn D. "Paw Paw" Calhoun

Memorial services for Lynn D. " Paw Paw" Calhoun, 84, of Marshall, TX, will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Bro. David Rice officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Mr. Calhoun passed away May 25, 2014.

Lynn D. Calhoun was born May 6, 1930 in Newton, TX to Robert and Pearl Biscamp Calhoun. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of faithful service. While in the Air Force, he served in the Air Commandos during the Kennedy Administration. Mr. Calhoun was then employed by General Electric, and retired in 1992. He was a member of the Domino Group and CCA. He married Nell Bridges on August 24, 2002. Mr. Calhoun really enjoyed his time with family and friends at Mercer Deer Camp, the time he spent camping with friends and family, was very quick witted and always found the humor in every situation and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Calhoun are his wife, Nell Galles Calhoun of Marshall; children, Cynthia Calhoun Ditmore of Panola, TX, Sherry Calhoun Mayfield and husband Mike of Elysian Fields, TX, David Calhoun and wife Ginger of Panola, TX; 5 step-children, Gene and Vonda Galles, Ken and Vickie Galles, Tim and Missy Galles and Gary and Miyo Galles; brother, Charles Calhoun and wife Jeanette of Beaumont, TX; sisters-in-law, Nell Calhoun Ellis of Pearland, TX, Lelo Calhoun of Pasadena, TX, Joyce Bridges of Shreveport, LA, Doris Bridges of Saraland, AL, Clara Risberg of Owatonna, MN, Doris Galles of Spokane, Washington and Anne Duzan of Shreveport, LA; brother-in-law, Ken Bridges and wife Millie of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Michael Ditmore, Jason Lewis, Bradley K. Lewis, Karine Lewis Courtney, Christol Calhoun Hall, Justin Calhoun, Lacy Calhoun Burson, Lynn Calhoun; 11 step-grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Mr. Calhoun was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, R.C., Virgil, Theo, Beavis Calhoun; 1 sister, Marie Calhoun Moore; and his wife of 50 years, Betty Jean Duzan Calhoun.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Ditmore, Jason Lewis, Bradley K. Lewis, Justin Calhoun, Lynn Calhoun, Cullum Ditmore and Bradley Lewis.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Heartsway Hospice and Staci Winters and Penny Griffin. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church.
