Coach Vickers was my 8th Grade Football Coach at Oak Terrace Junior High back in 1974. He was an inspiration to many of us guys and inspired in me the desire to coach also.
Because of Coach Vickers, I have been a high school football coach for 32 years, and begin my 33rd season in a few short weeks. I know Im not the only one that he inspired, so Rest in Peace Coach, you did well.

James Larry,

It seems like just yesterday that ole #86 got called up to "dress out' with the varsity. Larry always had a tenacity and savvy that put him ahead of the game and the rest of us. Larry, Roy and I were probably the smallest "ends" in AAA high school football. Larry always seemed to have a knack for getting things done. I admired that trait in him. I appreciated his help along the way. Larry was a good high school buddy and I am sorry to hear of his passing. May God Bless all you at this time. May God bless all of you at this time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Larry Vickers was one of my oldest brother Tommy's best friends, if not the best.
Larry was certainly a close friend. I remember Larry growing up with Tommy. He was over at our house and we were over at the Vickers home often. Tommy and Larry were in sports and so much at Pineville High School. Larry was a wonderful man who gave us memories and will be greatly missed.
