Freddie Haynes Obituary
Freddie Louise "Sug" Walker Haynes

Minden, LA Freddie Louise "Sug" Walker Haynes was born in Ashland, Louisiana, January 20, 1924. At a very early age was given the nickname "Sug" by her baby brother and it stayed with her throughout her life. She knew early on that O. H. Haynes, Jr. would be the love of her life. They secretly married her junior year, while she was attending Minden High School and he was attending Louisiana State Normal School, now Northwestern State University. Their marriage was not made public until they announced her as "Freddie Louise Haynes" when she walked across the stage to get her high school diploma.

Her motto throughout life was faith, family, friends.

She was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Minden and devoted 30 years to teaching Sunday School. Up until this year, she served at vacation bible school. She was active in WMU, serving as President for 5 years. When the church initially underwent remodel, she was a big part of the planning committee, even helping design the family life center.

While she was an integral part of her church family, her most important role was matriarch of the Haynes family. It was a long-standing tradition, that all Haynes's could be found at "Suggies" every Sunday after church. They were taught to tell each other that they loved each other every day, and if they couldn't say it every day then at least, every other day." She always said, next to GOD family comes first. Loyalty to family was paramount, all for one and one for all no matter what. She led by example and walked through life the perfect model of grace and dignity. This was validated when she recognized as Minden's Woman of the Year 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lesca Walker, her husband O. H. Haynes, Jr, sons Freddie and Jerry Haynes and great-grandson Stanton Haynes. Sug is survived by her sons O. H.
