Carl Richard (Dick) Dethloff

SHREVEPORT, LA- Mr. Carl Richard (Dick) Dethloff died on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in Shreveport, LA following a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8th at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2007 at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Reverend Bryan McDowell of First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

Dick was born October 8, 1929 in New Orleans, LA to Carl Curt Dethloff and Camelia Jordan Dethloff. Later he and his family moved to Natchitoches, LA where he graduated from Natchitoches High School. He went on to graduate from Kansas State with a degree in agriculture/economics. He was a member of the debate team and Sigma Chi Fraternity.

After serving in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, Dick began his career in the insurance industry with Zurich/Maryland Casualty in Jackson, MS. In 1957, he married his loving wife, Bobbie and they moved to Shreveport. He became the owner of the R. C. Jordan Agency, was a partner in Dethloff, Jordan and McClure, Inc., & presently, a partner in Dethloff & Associates, Inc.

Dick served as President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Shreveport, President of the Independent Insurance Agents/Brokers of LA and as State National Director of the Independent Insurance Agents/Brokers of LA.

He loved his work with the IIABL and was truly an advocate of his fellow independent agents and company colleagues.

Dick was a member of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, a member of the Shreveport Club, Independence Bowl Foundation, Cotillion Club, Life Loyal Sig and C.P.C.U.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bobbie Winsted Dethloff; daughter, Debbie D. Lunn and husband, Doug; son, David R. Dethloff and wife, Pam; four grandchildren, Stuart D. Lunn, III, Emily Jordan Lunn, Joel H. Hynes and Drew Richard Dethloff. He is also survived by his brother, Henry Clay Dethloff and wife, Myrtle Ann; and a sister, Cammie D. Girand; along with numerous nephews.

Pallbearers will be Hines Vaughan, Robert Feron, Dr. William Wilder, Gilbert Shanley, James Nichols, Dr. Milton Chapman, Frank Moore and Joel Thomas, Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Wade Fox, Sidney York and the Honorable Tom Stagg.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Michael Aura, Dr. Michael Futrell and Dr. Robert LaFargue. Also, a special thank you to his sitters and nurses.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadmoor Presbyterian Church or a charity of the donor's choice. OSBORNFUNERALHOME.NET
