Dorothy Carolyn "Nana" Smith

Funeral services for Dorothy Carolyn "Nana" Smith, 74, of Shreveport, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 7, 2012, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum chapel with her nephew Rev. Neil Trichell officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mrs. Smith passed away Wednesday, December 05, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 27, 1938 in Transylvania, LA. Mrs. Smith was a resident of Monroe for a number of years before moving to Shreveport. She was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. Her favorite things in life included listening to country music, cooking, getting the family together, and joking around. Her sense of humor was one of a kind, and her love for her family was unmatched. The memories of her jokes, antics, and love will never be forgotten, and she will always have a special place in the hearts of her family.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Herman R. Smith; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Collins; and her brother, William C. Collins.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rickey L. Smith, Randy R. Smith and wife Jeanne, and Dr. Ray D. Smith and wife Tammy; grandchildren, James R. Smith, Sarah E. Marty and husband Ryan, Staci L. Smith, Corey D. Smith, Shelby L. Smith, Luke H. Smith, Alicia Rucker, and Libby Rucker; great grandchildren, Austen Campbell, Aiden Campbell, and Harper Kate Dickerson; siblings, David Collins and wife Carol, Jean Stearns and husband Chuck, Patsy Trichell, Jerry Ray Collins and wife Ferdie; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Honoring Mrs. Smith as pallbearers are James R. Smith, Corey D. Smith, Luke H. Smith, Ryan J. Marty, Barry Collins, and Michael Collins.

Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum chapel.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Live Oak Health Center. Please know that Mom truly loved each and every one of you and you will always hold a special place in our hearts for your compassion and devoted attention to her care.
