J R Hearron

Shreveport, LA - J R Hearron, 94, a native of Minden, LA and a resident of Shreveport, LA passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013. J R was born to William Andrew (Poppa Bill) Hearron and Syntha Rebecca (Grandma Beckie) on October 9, 1918. He was licensed to preach in 1937 and ordained in 1942 at his home church, First Baptist Church, in Minden, LA. During his time, Margaret Elizabeth Roberts came into his life and were united in marriage on January 1, 1939.

During this time, J R worked in the Accounting Department, Louisiana and Arkansas Railway, Lake Street, Shreveport, and at the Louisiana Ordinance Plant, Minden, LA in the Sanitation Department, Railway Department, and in the Personnel Office. Preaching on weekends, he traveled by railway to and from Shreveport and Pineville, LA to study at Louisiana College. Later, studies took him to East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, TX and then the Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, LA.

The Lord's ministries took him to churches at Smith's Chapel in Plain Dealing, Red River in Benton, Holly Springs in Minden, Antioch in Dixie Inn, Alabama in Arcadia, Heflin, Rodessa, Westside Baptist in Natchitoches, Central Park in Bossier City, Fellowship in Converse, and part time at Rodessa, Louisiana after retirement, and then served as Minister to shut-ins and care units for Calvary Baptist in Shreveport, LA.

J R is survived by his sons: James Randal Hearron & Brenda Ellzey, and Ed Hearron and wife Lucy; grandchildren: Chan Hearron and wife April, Christopher Hearron and wife Sandy, Cheston Hearron, Dawn Anderson and husband Robert, and Paige Moore and husband Charlie; great grandchildren: Jake and Bailey Anderson, Coty and MacKenzie Moore, and Caden, Landry, Haley, Hutson, and Harper Hearron.

He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Robert Hearron; brothers: Houston, Hosston, Hiram, Herman, Herbert, and Edward; and sister Edna.

Visitation will be held at Centuries Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 5pm until 7pm. A celebration of life service will be held in Centuries Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Bro. Steve Gilley and Bro. W.D. "Step" Martin will be presiding over the services. Pallbearers will be Robert and Jake Anderson, Chan, Christopher and Cheston Hearron, Coty and Charlie Moore and Sam Merritt.

The family would like to thank Donna and Sherry with Hospice and the staff at The Guest House for their loving care of J R.
