Carolyn Sutera Aiani 'Lived a full life focused on family & education of others' Carolyn Sutera Aiani beloved mother and grandmother of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the age of 90. Carolyn was born in New York City and lived in West Brighton since 1968. She then moved to Melbourne, Florida in 2018 to be with family. She was married to Kenneth Aiani for 59 years until his passing in 2012. Carolyn was an avid traveler and enjoyed stimulating her brain with daily exercise and the crossword puzzles. Carolyn travelled all over the world with her husband Kenneth, who was a career veteran of the US Navy. She began her career as a bank teller with Chase Bank for over 20 years and finished her career as a para-professional working with Special Education students in the New York City Department of Education. She was the beloved mother of Louis, Ronald, Kenneth and John; sister to Emanuele Sutera; and proud grandmother of Kenneth R., Robert, Lynn, Chris, Luke, Kenneth J., Lauren, James, Joseph and Juliet. Carolyn lived a full life with focusing on family and education of others, as her primary devotion. She had a vibrant personality and was a fighter in all that she did, battling dementia with grace in her final years. Carolyn loved to cook, especially during the holidays, and always looked forward to her family gatherings. Most of all, Carolyn loved her family and always put them above herself. She treasured her sons and attempted to instill in them the strong values that guide them today. She especially adored her role as Grandma. She was affectionally known as "Moses" by her sons and daughter in laws. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Avenue. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. on Monday in Sacred Heart R.C.
