Paul Vincent Messina Proud father and grandfather, 73 With his family by his side Paul Vincent Messina peacefully passed away on May 27, 2021 in Vero Beach, Florida at the age of 73. After his retirement three years ago, he enjoyed the winter months in Florida and warmer seasons in Poconos Pines, PA. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Sarillo Sam Messina and Carmela "Millie" (Napolitano) Messina. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Phyllis (Ivy). He was the proud father to his three children: Paul S Messina and his wife Debbie of Syracuse, N.Y., Jenn Messina of Schenectady, NY, Stephen J Messina of Staten Island, NY and 2 grandchildren: Julia Messina and Sam Messina, also his very close cousins Michael Mirino of Alberston, NY and Nancy Riccadonna of Las Vegas, NV, along with many beloved cousins and mountains of friends. He was a graduate of Christ The King High School in Middle Village, NY attended American Institute of Banking and served in the Air National Guard. He was a Vice President /Client Relationship Officer in the Government Securities Clearance Department for Bank of NY Mellon in NYC having worked there for 24 years. Before that he worked at JP Morgan for 25 years. To know him is to love him. He had an uncanny ability to connect with those around him. His smile and sense of humor could warm an entire room. Enjoyed many rounds of golf with his friends at Lake Naomi, PA. He loved the Yankees, stayed up for many late-night games. Paul enjoyed life, family, and many friends. He was always there to brighten the lives of others. Continually armed with a dad joke that always made everyone laugh. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.

Our deepest condolences to Phyllis and family. Paul and I started work at Morgan Guaranty (JPM) on the same day. We became close over the years.
I will always remember our first chat on day one. Paul asked me how do I get to work? I said “by Boat”. Paul said to me , “from Ireland”? I said no, Staten Island where Paul later moved to. I am from Ireland, it was quite funny he thought I was commuting from there. We laughed about that conversation many times over the years. I have many great memories of him as a co-worker and friend.
This news hits hard.

I worked with Paul for many years at BONY. I think we got along so well
because he was the opposite of me, willing to let things go, seeing the bright side of everything etc. I never remember a time when Paul didn’t have a smile on his face.

Paul was the most congenial man, that I EVER had the pleasure of meeting. A smile beyond beautiful. His parents Sam & Millie did a fantastic job of raising him to perfection. You were loved, admired, and will be missed so very much. Our hearts are broken but we know that you’re flying high with the Angels. Rest in Eternal Peace, until we are reunited once again. ❤ & Prayers ’s for you, Phyllis and your beautiful family .
