Wayne A. Hanson (1931 - 2019)

SIDNEY — Wayne A. Hanson, 87, of Sidney, passed away at 3:10 a.m. at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1931, in Cincinnati, the son of Andrew and Ruby (Bennett) Hanson. On Dec. 23, 1950, he married the love of his life, Betty Ann Bush, who preceded him in death.

Wayne graduated from Miami University, with a bachelor's degree of business economics, and retired from IBM in San Antonio, as the top salesman in Texas. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity on the Miami University campus. He was also a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Dayton, Ohio.

Wayne is survived by sons, Greg (Kathy) Hanson, of Walnut Creek, California, and Todd (Christa) Hanson, of Vista, California. He had one daughter, Kimberly (Gary) Scheffler, of San Antonio, Texas.

His son Steve Hanson, of Alaska, preceded him in death in 2015.

He had a brother, Gene Hanson; and a sister, Janis Beigel, who survive as well. Also, his grandchildren, Jason (Ginny) Hanson, of Hawaii, Joe Hanson, of Texas, Danielle Wright, of Texas, Adrienne Davis, of Texas, Shane Scheffler, of Texas, Brittany Hanson, of California, Brooke Hanson, of California, Derek Hanson, of California.

A private committal service for Wayne will be held at a later date, where he will be with Betty Ann at St. Paul's Episcopal, Dayton, in the Columbarium.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Dorothy Love for the excellent care Wayne received.
